SANTUARIO DEL MONO
In what is now a protected space, in the years 1960-70 there was an agricultural domain, that of Hacienda La Carrera, which included some kind of small zoo with, among other things, monkeys-spiders. At the time of agrarian reform, during the Revolution period, many animals were sold or killed. The monkeys survived. They constitute one of the only two colonies of monkeys living in the wild state of El Salvador. The colony has 30 monkeys, and although alive, they are still in the vicinity of the hut where Don Miguel lives. This gentleman lives here for many years, and during the Revolution he tried to protect monkeys as much as possible. These monkeys are very curious, and in exchange for some bananas that give them time in time Don Miguel, they go easily to meet visitors.
