ICAPO - HAWKSBILL TURTLE PROTECTION

From Puerto Barillas it is possible to visit the ICAPO association, which is working on the conservation of the scales (terrace careta). Unlike many of the visits to turtle protection initiatives proposed throughout Central America, this is really led by a very serious organisation in its approach. ICAPO only proposes to receive travellers visits, and you will need to apply for at least 2 or 3 days. These are visits during which you will accompany scientists and volunteers on the ground during their daily spots with turtles.
