Grong is a small town located in the central part of Namdalen, on the rivers Namsen and Sanddøla. Also called Medjå, Grong is the administrative center of Grong municipality. The Nordland Line stops here and the E6 road passes to the west of the village. If you are heading north, this can be a strategic place to spend the night. Grong has three important waterfalls: Fiskumfoss, Formofossen and Tømmeråsfossen. Fiskumfoss is particularly important as it feeds a hydroelectric power plant. The city has also built a salmon ladder to help and encourage fish to pass the waterfalls.
