Romanesque Cistercian abbey housing the Rose Gate, which gives access to the Heilig Blut chapel.
This Romanesque Cistercian abbey, one of the most visited in the state, was founded in the 13th century and became the burial place of the princes of Tyrol. Many artists contributed to its embellishment. In the abbey church, the rose gate that gives access to the Heilig Blut chapel (the "Holy Blood"), as well as the high altar and its altarpiece with the remarkable Tree of Jesse. A superb grand staircase leads to the hall of the Princes, with frescoes evoking the life of Saint Bernard.
