This is the site of the Grünmarkt, a daily all-day market held at the foot of the University Church. Products are mainly offered by retailers, not by the producers themselves. At the corner of the square, near a telephone booth, a small passageway leads away from the crowds into a quiet, tree-lined square, home to the Faculty of Theology. On the other side, to the south, you come to the Festival Palace, which backs onto the Mönchsberg, the Monks' Mountain, a counterpart to the Kapuzinerberg on the left bank.

Au coeur de la ville
Dans ce centre historique d'une superficie modeste mais qui compte tant de monuments religieux et civils, de petites rues, on aurait tôt fait de passer par cette place sans y faire attention. Toutefois, le lieu compte des espaces de calme, des statues contemporaines et un petit marché.
