Herculaneum was an ancient Roman town in the Italian region of Campania, destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and preserved for centuries in a volcanic matrix. It was brought back to life in the 18th century by the Bourbon-Deux-Siciles family, who ruled Naples. Today, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park allows visitors to discover the remains of this ancient Roman city. It's advisable to buy tickets online to avoid waiting times, especially during peak periods. Visitors under 12 years of age must be accompanied. The park also offers discounts for young people aged 18 to 25.

Site beaucoup plus petit que Pompéi. En décembre peu de monde mis à part des groupes scolaires italiens. Pas de queue à l'entrée. Arrivés depuis Pompéi avec le train circumvesuvio très pratique.

Ce site peut avoir intérêt si vous passez par là en allant ou en revenant du Vésuve ou de Pompéi. Néanmoins il est vraiment petit comparé à Pompéi. Si vous ne souhaitez pas visiter l’intérieur du site, vous pouvez tout de même profiter gratuitement d’une très belle vue sur les ruines!

Permet de voir à quel point ces villas étaient gigantesques mais moins de charme.

L idéal est d arriver avec le circumvesuviano et de repartir depuis la gare Trenitalia d'où on a une très belle vue de la baie de Naples.
Tourisme assez agressif aux environs de la gare Circumvesuviana : on essaie de vous rabattre pour le Vesuve ou pour entrer dans les restaurants.

Accessible avec la Campania Card.

Site moins bondé que Pompéi. Accessible en train depuis Naples. En été, évitez absolument la visite entre midi et deux car le soleil tape très fort !
