CASA DEL BEL CORTILE

It is a small dwelling whose design departs from the traditional architecture of the Roman domus (house). The atrium has been replaced by an inner courtyard with a beautiful mosaic pavement and a masonry staircase leading to the upstairs accommodation. The ensemble is somewhat reminiscent of medieval Italian architecture. The house may have been home to several families. The rooms on the ground floor have retained some of their painted decoration from the 2nd and 3rd styles (between 50 BC and 50 AD).
