In a pretty area of the centre, a few steps from the banks of the Mincio, there is a friendly bistro with colourful tones where you can taste local specialities. It takes its name from Fragoletta, a theatre actress and good cook who used to receive her admirers here in the 18th century. On the menu there is an appetizing choice: pike in anchovy and vegetable sauce with polenta, ravioli with pumpkin butter and sage, horse stew with red wine and a beautiful platter of local cheeses accompanied by the unavoidable mostarda with candied fruit. Tiramisu and sbrisolona for dessert.

Wir waren eigentlich gar nicht so hungrig, aber angesichts der Speisekarte, dem Duft aus der Küche und der freundlichen Bedienung konnten wir doch nicht widerstehen. Das Risotto hat mich nicht ganz überzeugt, wahrscheinlich weil es nicht meiner Vorstellung von einem gut durchgezogenen Risotto entspricht (und für mich gehört Parmesan dazu). Dieses Risotto kommt ohne Käse aus und ist etwas trocken, eher eine Beilage. Die Ravioli mit u.a. Kürbis waren der Hammer und wirklich ein Genuss. Das Fleisch war saftig, aussen kross, innen rot und von bester Qualität. Eigentlich muss man nochmal wiederkommen, um mehr von der Karte zu probieren. Mantova ist auf jeden Fall einen weiteren Besuch wert und diese Osteria ebenso.

Magnifica esperienza culinaria, con cibi preparati magnificamente e consigliati e serviti con cortese professionalità.
Tortelli di zucca e riso alla pilota, faraona e baccalà buonissimi, una menzione speciale per il gelato di limone con zenzero caramellato, strepitoso!
Per un locale che si rifà ad un'antica tradizione avrei preferito trovare un arredamento più in tono, ma questo è soltanto il mio parere.
