It is the oldest synagogue in Moravia, and the second oldest in the country after the Old-New Synagogue in Prague. It was nevertheless extensively renovated in the 19th century. After the Second World War, the place was acquired by the Hussite church, which adapted it to its worship. The city also has two Jewish cemeteries (the old and the new). The old cemetery was also destroyed by the Nazis, then transformed into a park and partially rebuilt in the 1990s.
