CHURCH OF THE ELEVATION OF THE HOLY CROSS

Built in the early 13th century, along with the neighboring monastery, this church was supposed to contain a piece of the True Cross. This piece has been lost since the fire of 1555 that ravaged the building and certainly consumed the venerable piece of wood, which has never been found. Despite this, the church is still the object of pilgrimages. The painting of the Virgin Mary is said to be miraculous and attracts many visitors.
