ABBAZIA SANT'EUTIZIO

It is one of the oldest monasteries in Italy, founded in the^5th century by the spiritual fathers of St. Benedict, overlooking the Castoriana valley. This complex is considered one of the most important places of Western monasticism. Several spiritual personalities have a connection with this place, including San Benedetto and San Francesco. Damage following the 2016 earthquake: the campanile of the Sant'Eutizio Abbey collapsed, devastating part of the monastery. Work began in 2018 and it is no longer possible to visit.
