FESTA DEI CERI (FÊTE DES CIERGES)

It is one of the great traditional Italian festivals, during which thousands of people crowd the streets of Gubbio. Dedicated to St. Ubaldo, the patron saint of the city, the race consists of three teams, each of which must carry a wooden structure about 5 meters high and weighing about 400 kg on their shoulders. The race ends with the climb up Mount Ingino and the entrance to the Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo. This festival takes place every year on May 15.
