Museum on the history of marble, "white gold", from Roman times to the present day.

This civic museum of marble was opened in 1982 to show visitors the impact of marble exploitation on Carrara's society and on the entire province. It is divided into six sections, each representing a different period of marble history, from Roman times to the present. You will learn that there are more than three hundred varieties of marble, and discover the archaeological finds made on the site. A small library specializing in books on "white gold" is also available.
