The 7th is the feast of Milan's patron saint, Ambrogio, which also marks the start of the O'Bei O'Bei festival and the season at La Scala.
The 7th is the feast day of Milan's patron saint, Ambrogio (Ambrose), bishop of the city between 374 and 397. Shops and offices are closed, while the streets and squares of the Sant'Ambrogio district are invaded by the stalls of the O'Bei O'Bei funfair ("they're beautiful, they're beautiful" in Milanese dialect) and the opera season kicks off at the Teatro alla Scala. Sant'Ambrogio Basilica remains open for the duration of the festival.
