ÉGLISE SAINT-JEAN-BAPTISTE DE KRATOVO

Set on a slope, this Orthodox church (Црква Свети Јован Крстител/Crkva Sveti Jovan Krstitel) is signaled by the powerful columns of the porch. It was erected in 1836 by the architect Andrej Damjanov, to whom we owe, among other things, the cathedral church in Veles. It is located on the site of a previous church, burned during the Karpoš uprising in 1689. Inside, there are beautiful frescoes, a carved wooden iconostasis and a highly venerated icon of St. George of Kratovo.
