From Monterosso, a two-hour walk along a path that in places turns into steps clinging to the ground leads to one of Italy's oldest sanctuaries. From the village, take the Via Roma as far as an iron cross, then take the signposted path on the right. Known since the late 10th century, the sanctuary's current structure dates back to the 12th century. A wooden statue of the Sorrowful Virgin is kept inside.
