The village is located on the Ouémé River, 26 km from Dassa. Bétékoukou is famous for its hippos, which you can see basking in the river during the dry season. To get there, it takes at least an hour to drive from Dassa to Zoumé in a 4x4. Then take a pirogue, which is essential to get closer to the famous hippos. The price is about 3 500 FCFA per person for the pirogue. Important detail, it is preferable to leave early from Dassa, around 6 am, to have a maximum of chances to surprise the hippos. And to get a nice picture!
