Large Afro-Brazilian-style mosque typical of the Beninese capital, with impressive architecture

Listed site of the "red city", the great mosque is a magnificent baroque building, with multicolored facades where turquoise blue, yellow ochre, bronze green are mixed... Its architecture is especially very surprising for a mosque, because, with its Afro-Brazilian style typical of the Beninese capital, it is inspired... by the churches of San Salvador de Bahia in the north of Brazil! Located along the Ahouangbo market, it is not easy to see from afar, the stalls being a bit of a screen. But don't miss to go and have a look!

Elle impressionne par son décalage architectural par rapport aux mosquées traditionnelles. Il faut profiter d’une visite au marché pour apprécier ses couleurs et la vie a sa porte!
