On the way to Padang, south of Limakaum, where you can explore an old mosque and some engraved stones, lies Pariangan, a village with coffee mills and traditional houses. To get there, start by taking a bemo from Bukittinggi towards Batusangkar, where you'll have to make a change. As the oldest village in Minangkabau, Pariangan is nestled on the slopes of Mount Marapi, at an altitude of 500-700 meters. Included in the list of the world's most beautiful villages, it offers magnificent panoramic views and ancient buildings of traditional Minangkabau vernacular architecture.
