The island of Alor, in the far east of the Indonesian archipelago, is a fascinating destination for its rich culture and underwater wonders. Measuring 60 by 80 km, it is distinguished by its crystal-clear waters and marine biodiversity, offering divers the chance to observe sharks, manta rays and colorful fish. Alor is a unique blend of cultures: the coastal villages, inhabited mainly by Muslim sailors, contrast with the central villages, home to Papuans with animist and Christian beliefs. Having experienced tribal wars, these villages remain isolated, each preserving its own language and traditions.
