Nestled in the heart of Glodok, this historic Taoist temple, dating from 1650 and dedicated to the goddess Guanyin, is Jakarta's oldest. Spanning 3,000 square meters near Jalan Gajah Mada, this Vihara (temple) constantly attracts large numbers of worshippers. They gather here on the first and fifteenth days of each new moon to burn incense and light candles, seeking protection and prosperity. The temple is particularly busy during the Chinese New Year, making it an ideal time to visit if you're in the area at that time.
