Founded in 1715 by the erudite Metropolitan Antim, this is one of Bucharest's most beautiful monasteries. You'll notice the characteristic Brâncovenesc style, the discreet but rich floral carvings, as well as beautiful Nativity paintings (dating from 1812, like many of its buildings). The monastery is concealed by the blocks of flats built in the 1980s. To erect them, the block housing the monks was moved 20 m. The surrounding streets, which escaped destruction, offer a glimpse of the district's past charm.

joli monastère situé prés du parlement que l'on trouve favilement si ou on sait ou chercher. Endroit au calme avec très jolies peintures orthodoxes. Peu de monde entrée gratuite.

Un monastère qui se mérite tant il est caché mais cela en vaut la peine.
L'accueil se fait par un porche décoré de fresques splendides (restaurées à l'été 2016). La cour intérieure est sympathique tout comme les personnes rencontrées sur place. Belle église décoré et belle architecture.

Édifice orthodoxe bien caché mais qui vaut qu'on le cherche. La cour intérieure fleurie est très jolie. Nous avons eu la chance d'y aller un dimanche matin et d'assister à une partie du culte orthodoxe traditionnel. Surprenant...

The monastery of Antim is located two steps from the Parliament, surrounded by bars buildings! Tourists adventure there barely and yet... It offers a small garden very well maintained and very flowers. We made of a very friendly monk who we tried to communicate in French. A beautiful meeting!
