Guided tours Bucharest

Raluca, the initiator, has turned her grandparents' apartment in one of these concrete blocks into a museum of family life under Communism. With a wealth of commentary, the tour focuses on the harshest years of the 1980s. Room by room, you'll learn how power infiltrated Romanians' daily lives, which were characterized by rationing, propaganda and resourcefulness (bartering, cooking and bathing at night...). Extended packages are available, including a visit to the center or a Communist dinner. An original, instructive and touching experience.

The "Red Patrol" proposes you to wander the streets of Bucharest aboard a mythical Dacia from the 1970-1980's, restored, the ideal vehicle for a ride on the traces of Romania's recent past. Among the tours, two are possible in French: the great classic "communist tour", in which you can even drive the Dacia and which will show you the key places of this period, and the tour of the "Bucharest of contrasts", which will take you from the bourgeois district of Cotroceni to the large blocks of Ferentari and Drumul Taberei.

Bucharest also has its red bus! The public transport company STB and the municipality have launched a double-decker tourist bus service in the colours of the famous London buses. From piața Presei Libere to the Parliament Palace, the bus travels along the main boulevards and stops in front of some of the city's major attractions: piața Universității, piața Revoluției, Village Museum, CEC Palace... The ticket, valid for 24 hours, allows you to get on and off as many times as you like. An audioguide is available in French.
