With the superb cathedral of Ngozi in red brick, the Regina-Mundi Cathedral (Notre-Dame, Queen du Monde) is the largest church in Burundi. However, its modernist architecture is less interesting. Built in 1956-1957, it was established in 1962. It was in 1959 that the first Burundian bishop in Bujumbura, Monsignor Michel Ntuyahaga, was sacred. The weekend mass fills the benches, and the show of the endimanchées families at the end of the service deserves a look.
