The view of the lake is nice, but the rooms are summary and rather kitsch. Try the ikan kapur in the restaurant and prefer the upper rooms with hot water or bungalow. Shuttle services for the rest of the island, free if you come from the vicinity or Ubud and stay home. From the Surya Hotel you can swim in the lake's fresh water, relax in the hot spring, visit the village of Bali Aga and climb the Batur volcano, the only active volcano in Bali.
