Home to seven Akivi moai or ahu, said to represent the envoys of Hotu-Matu (considered the island's first king).
Continuing due north from Puna Pau, after about 3 km, we arrive at Akiviahu, the only one located inland and whose moai look out over the ocean. Its seven moai represent the envoys of Hotu-Matua, considered the first king of the island. Moreover, according to specialists, this ahu seems to be placed according to a determined astronomical orientation: in front of the statues, one can see two stones between which the sun sets at the exact moment of the summer solstice. A magical sight if you are lucky enough to be around!

Le seul tourné vers la mer
Tous les moaï de l'ile ont le regard vers l'intérieur de l'île à l'exception de ce site. Cet Ahu est le seul dont les 7 moaï regardent vers la mer!

Beautiful site, located in a very quite place in the countryside, boasting one superb and very long ahu (stone platform) supporting seven mohai. The stone covered area in front of the platform is also one of the largest; beautiful place; you need to show you ticket but you are allowed to come as many times you want. We visited the place twice and in each occasion it was a remarkable experience. Fascinating.
