NEVADO OJOS DEL SALADO

You can, if you are an Andean or accompanied by a guide, climb the Ojos del Salado volcano, the highest volcano in the world and the highest peak in Chile. To do so, a pass is required. You will have to present it to the guards to ensure your own safety and to respect the protocol of the border zone. It can be obtained at the Difrol (Dirección Nacional de Fronteras y Límites del Estado). Count on about 10 days of trek to acclimatize well, bring crampons for the ascent and walking sticks for the descent.
