KUMAR MESS

Few know it, but Madurai is famous for its meat specialties, especially mutton. This small establishment, crowded at all hours, is an institution in the city. You can taste mutton curry, mutton liver, crab omelette, fried fish or crab... Meat dosas are also offered. It is very traditional: the dishes are served on a banana leaf and you eat with your right hand. Other addresses are similar like Amma Mess (almost opposite) or Asmavalli Bhavan.
