Located in Triplicane, the Arulmigu Sri Parthasarathy Perumal Temple is a Vishnu temple dedicated to Krishna. The blue god is worshipped here in the form of Sri Venkatakrishnan, a warrior with a moustache. There are also shrines dedicated to Narasimha and Rama. Built by the Pallavas in the 6th century, it is among the oldest Dravidian temples in Chennai. Additions were made by the Cholas and then by the Vijayanagar kings. The most famous devotee of the temple is the famous poet, author and mystic, Swami Vivekananda.
