Tinfou is rather a place. One comes there to admire the first dunes of the Moroccan Sahara, culminating at 120 m. They are not really interesting and are invaded by tourists that buses drop off at the foot of the dunes. On your right coming from Zagora, there are still a few kasbahs, which take on an orange colour at sunset. After Tinfou, the road moves away from the Drâa. It crosses the sharp ridges of Jebel Bani and descends into the desert plains of the Hammada. Testimony to the lost fertility of this region, the rock engravings attest that there was a time when the banks of the Draa were cultivated.
