Surrounded by walls built by the Portuguese in the 15th century, Asilah is home to a lovely medina that attracts many artists.

The medina of Asilah is perfectly maintained. The houses are painted in indigo with calligraphy and street art on the walls. The whole medina is surrounded by ramparts, built at the end of the ^15th century by Alphonse V of Portugal. It is very pleasant to walk along these walls, restored a few years ago, on the seafront to reach an overhang in the ocean. From there, you will have a sublime view of the white medina that you can visit by entering one of the three magnificent doors: Bab el Houmar, Bab el Bahr, and Bab el Kasbah.

Un endroit adorable

Médina agréable au bord de l'océan, propre, colorée avec ses artistes peintres et artisans. Entrée gratuite. Parking à coté peu cher. C'était un moment fort agréable je conseille absolument de découvrir Asilah.

Très jolie Médina ou on se sent bien. Facile d'accès et agréable à visiter . Une bonne balade s'impose si vous passez dans le coin. Une très bonne patisserie s'y trouve..

Visited in April 2014. A medina still authentic and not too tourist. Beautiful view of the ocean, the rocks and the beach.

Asilah and its medina: I go every year to Morocco and my first visit is for Asilah. I enjoyed by its shades of colours depending on the sun. I have the joy of admiring one year on the other other paintings on the walls of the houses: it is a feast for the eyes. Unfortunately, this year many walls was damaged, rain can be!
