Approximately 50 minutes from Mokolo, on the track leading to Rhumsiki, Mbondogo is a village in the throes of change. Modern buildings have sprung up in recent years, including a church. It remains, however, a village of farmers and herders, with mud and thatch houses for the most part. Despite the appearance of recently installed modern buildings, it is in this part of the country that we come closest to the way of life of the people of the Far North. Although Mbondogo is a village in transition, witnessing this shift towards modernity remains a striking experience.Along the track, you can see herds of zebus, usually driven by children. Several times a day, they come to drink at the village ponds, which have the particularity of never drying up completely, even in May, at the end of the dry season. On leaving the village, at the top of a hill, a pretty green landscape emerges, still marked by huge granite boulders. As far as the eye can see towards Rhumsiki, the land is covered with trees and strangely shaped granite monoliths. On either side of the track are beautiful traditional houses. Suffice it to say that, beyond the village itself, it's the spectacle of the surrounding landscape that rewards long minutes on a rather chaotic track.
