Located around 50 km from Kribi towards Campo (of which only 35 km is paved), Ebodjé is a village on the Atlantic coast. A small fishing village with deserted beaches, it's a great place to swim and stroll for visitors wishing to get off the beaten track. Local fishermen will be happy to suggest pirogue excursions, barracuda fishing at sea or on the Likodo River.Ebodjé has been chosen by a regional project as a protection site for marine turtles (leatherbacks and olive ridleys), which come to lay their eggs on nearby beaches between November and January. Leatherbacks, a listed species, are the largest of the sea turtles. Those that nest on Ebodjé beaches can reach 2.10 meters in width and 2.40 meters in length. For decades, turtles were poached and killed for their meat, considered a festive delicacy with mystical properties. Since the late 90s, however, attitudes have changed in favor of species preservation.Today, visitors come to learn about species protection projects, and the lucky ones even witness leatherback turtles laying their eggs. Also worth a visit is the Mangnangue rock ("which looks like a tortoise" in Batanga). You can also visit the rubber plantations and the Hévécam complex, some 20 minutes from Kribi on the road to Edéa.
