КОМСОМОЛЬСК-КОМСОМОЛЬСК-НА. Industrial and cultural centre on the left bank of the Amur, 400 km north of Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk, 246,607 inhabitants, is an important communication crossroads between the Trans-Siberian Railway, the Pacific port and the BAM line. It is the only link to the Lower Amur region, and its river port and airport handle a considerable amount of goods and passengers. Young, built in 1932, the city has retained its dynamism, with its cultural centres, theatres and exhibition halls. You discover another Far East, much less touristic than the famous Khabarovsk or Vladivostok. It is an interesting stopover to reach the north of the krai (port of Sovetskaya Gavan, via the BAM, in 14h). About 9h30 from Khabarovsk by train (from 499 RUB).
