ALTAI MUSEUM

Founded in 1823, it is the oldest museum in Siberia. Various collections dedicated to the local traditions of the Altai: archaeology, ethnography, military art, furniture but also natural sciences (mineralogy, etc.). A unique rarity in the world is the steam engine invented in Barnaul by I.I. Polzunov in 1763. The museum is housed in an old industrial building from the 19th century, also classified: the Barnaoul silver smelter.
