Opened at the time of independence of the Bahamas on July 10, 1973, this more 7 hectare garden houses the national herbarium and has over 600 plant species: trees, tropical flowers and plants including many native species. Formerly known as pit (pit), these gardens were at the time a rock quarry that allowed the building of roads and Fort Charlotte stones. The revival of a Lucayan village makes it possible to imagine the life of this people before Christopher Columbus arrives.
