SALALAH FESTIVAL

Initiated in 1995, this festival takes place every year in Salalah during the monsoon season. For six weeks between July and August, the city lives to the rhythm of the festival: dances, songs, theater and various competitions take place throughout the city. Set against a unique backdrop of lush vegetation, it's a very popular event in the Sultanate, attracting a large number of foreign tourists, mainly from the Gulf States and Asia. Beware: the festivities take place in the rain, in a lukewarm Scottish setting. Think twice before making the trip.
