ROMAN HOUSE DEL MITREO

It owes its name to the discovery of vestiges of a possible sanctuary dedicated to the cult of Mithra, within an ancient Roman house. It was in the western part of this ensemble that the room called the Cosmic Mosaic was found, the little jewel of the visit. The second half of the iie century is a allegorical description of the cosmos: Rivers, clouds, seasons, ocean, etc. We will particularly note the representation of the Orient through a nascent sun and green and Azur colors given to the marine representations. In this house, you will notice the paintings of the walls on plant and animal grounds. The other rooms are organized around three patios, two of which are underground, designed to protect the inhabitants of the heat. Thermal baths complement the whole. Well signposted with explanatory panels in Spanish and English, traffic within this ensemble is facilitated by a number of gateways.
