In contrast to the noisy seaside resorts, the beach of Kato Zakros preserves its unique charm thanks to the captivating beauty of an arid but serene landscape, dominated by an appreciable calm and a clean sea with crystal clear waters. This is where the E4 European hiking trail ends, and this is where the Minoans chose to found one of the most powerful palaces in Crete! On the beach, there are a few umbrellas at the tavernas, but it is better to settle under the tamarisk trees, which grow where the beach becomes sandy!
