The 1866 market is a must in Heraklion, with its spicy perfumes and daily effervescence. Unfortunately, cheap souvenir stalls are beginning to proliferate, as well as clothing shops and leather merchants' stalls. You will find many typical products, fruits, flowers, oil and olives, soaps, groceries, bakeries, fishmonger, gyros, pharmacy, taverns and Cretan food. Push up to the Membo Fountain, its water is said to grant wishes.

Les restaurants du marché Heraklion à éviter
On vous attire en vous montrant les plats cuisinés en vitrine mais pas la carte et on se retrouve avec une addition gonflée et on justifiée pour une qualité très médiocre. Déception totale je n'y remettrai plus les pieds. C'est un attrapé touristes

Si vous êtes à Héraklion, n'hésitez pas à vous rendre au marché. Beaucoup de boutiques se ressemblent mais de temps à autre, en cherchant bien, vous trouverez un étal sympa. Moi j'y ai trouvé une petite échoppe où ils vendent du raki fait maison, des loukoums (miam) et des fruits séchés, un délice. Et les prix sont très corrects.

Je ne "rate" jamais les "halles" d'une ville , donc certainement pas celles de ce marché couvert , où l'on peut trouver de tout , et certainement des produits "in situ" : A VOIR ! et n'allez pas aux heures trop chaudes , ça c'est un conseil ....

Covered market therefore atmosphere quickly stifling days heat... many local products (olive oil, spices, honey...) All the shops resemble each other but the prices vary from one to another to take the time to tour. For olive oil, easy way it is the acidity which must be lower than 1 for a good oil:
0.3 - the best for salads
0.5 - enjoy a little less pronounced, is suitable for all types of consumption
0.7 - just cook (not suitable for salads)
For honey, the best is supposed to be thyme honey but the honey orange tree is not bad either!
