Island of Dia with the only sunken ship following the explosion of its powder magazine.
According to mythology, the island owes its name to Dias, or Zeus, its creator. In 1972, Captain Cousteau and his team discovered the ruins of an ancient port and, in the maritime zone between Heraklion and Dia, the wreck of the French ship La Thérèse, the only vessel sunk by the explosion of its powder magazine on June 24, 1669. The ship, dating from the 17th century, was part of the French fleet sent to Candia to help the Cretans fight for independence and free the city from Ottoman siege.

Nous voulions nous rendre sur cette petite île, malheureusement depuis la crise, il n'y a plus de liaison.
