Historical, pedestrian and commercial street in Heraklion.

Central artery of Heraklion, this long pedestrian street, on which the most beautiful buildings of the city can be found, starts from the old Venetian port and goes down into the old town to the market in 1866 street after the fountain of the 4 lions. This street is so named because on August 25, 1897, Ottoman soldiers attacked the city and ransacked everything there. Shopping street, one appreciates especially the passing side which offers a rather pleasant walk.

Soit on y trouve son compte dans cette rue hyper bruyante, animée, fréquentée, bourrée de bars, restaus, agences de tourisme, loueurs de voitures et boutiques à souvenirs. Rien de très original.
Soit on passe son chemin pour aller dans les petites adjacentes et y trouver un peu d'authenticité avec ses bars, restaus et boutiques fréquentées essentiellement par des grecs.

Beautiful busy street. Overlooking a pretty small port. You can find the agencies offering tickets to the Cyclades. In Santorini. With not missing.
Attention any time at the motor vehicles, very active traffic in this city.

It is the most typical street Eraklyon and certainly the most frequented, you will see spice merchants, leather, carpet. It is better to stroll in the morning. Everything is discussed and atmosphere resembles the African souk.
