Place near the Archaeological Museum, a place of meeting and cultural events in Heraklion.
This huge square marks the entrance to the old town. It is close to the Archaeological Museum, the Prefecture and the recently restored and enhanced Porte de Saint-Georges. The square is wide and modern, with a few palm trees in the centre and heavy traffic all around. It is a favourite meeting place for the inhabitants of Heraklion and is busy day and night. In the summer, several cultural events take place in the square: concerts and evenings devoted to traditional Cretan music and dance.
