SOUK ET BOUTIQUES

The region has a rich and varied craft industry. Production of carpets, mergoum (wool), jebba and bernous (men's clothing) and hrem (silk sheet, traditional women's clothing) and palm tree derivatives... It is difficult to list all the stores, as they are numerous and diverse. The best thing to do here is probably to walk around the city or, if you are here on market day, in its souks; the stalls in the tourist area are not exceptional, but they are well-stocked enough to find what you want.
