WATER TEMPLE

Vast thermal complex of the High-Empire which contained more than 4 000 cubic meters of water. The temple is located at the foot of the primitive rock of Al Kasbah.

Following the demolition of the surrounding modern houses, an important field of archaeological excavations revealed the structures and annexes of a vast thermal complex of the Roman period. This complex is composed of several parts: the thermal baths and their cisterns, the nymphaeum of Ras el-Ain: the temple of waters itself, and the porticoes probably a "water court".
