In Fengdu County, near the southeastern border of the Sichuan basin, 172 kilometres from Chongqing. Tradition means that after death, the soul goes to Fengdu: a visit to Fengdu would delay death! Built in the hills on the Bords River, Fengdu was established during the Spring and Autumns period (770-475 BC). The growing role of the city prompted Emperor Hédi to La the Oriental Han dynasty (25-220) to grant him his autonomy by separating Fengdu from Zhi County. The city is famous for its tradition of long ghost stories illustrated through Chinese classical novels. Over twenty temples have been built on the slope of Mingshan mountain since the Tang period. Attention, the main street was completely rebuilt a few years ago in the Ming era (1368-1644).
