Cathedral preserving the marks of its multiple influences in Alghero

Built over a long period of time, the cathedral retains the marks of its multiple influences. The campanile and the apses display a Gothic-Catalan style. The octagonal dome and the pillars with Doric columns come from the Renaissance. The mausoleum is of neoclassical inspiration. Although the city was chosen as an episcopal see as early as 1503, the construction of the cathedral did not begin until 1567. The work dragged on, and it was not consecrated until 1730.

Opening time and information on CATTEDRALE DI SANTA MARIA

Open daily from 8am to 10pm, 7pm in winter. The campanile is open seasonally only from 10.30am to 1pm and from 4pm to 6pm, except Tuesday evenings, Saturday evenings and Sundays. Admission: €4, €6 with the Diocesan Museum.

Joli bâtiment qui vaut le détour. Intéressant à visiter, surprenant de trouver un édifice pareil en plein coeur de la ville. Une belle surprise !

Très bon accueil : chaleureux et très souriant et le pompon une serveuse parle français !!

Service exemplaire et lieu idéal. Très bons vins. En revanche une cuisine peu surprenante ou exceptionnelle pour le standard haut de gamme poursuivi. Dommage quand on voit le nombre incroyable de possibilités de bien manger en Sardaigne.
