The Cobourg peninsula, an integral part of the earth of Arnhem, is located 200 km from the bird flight to the northeast of Darwin. The peninsula is managed by 4 Aboriginal groups (Agalda, Ngaindjagar, Madjunbalmi and Muran). It goes mainly to fishing and observing the marine fauna in the Garig Gunak Barlu Marine and National Park (dolphins, sirenians, turtles, crocodiles…). Permits are required to access it and only 20 vehicles are allowed simultaneously in the park, regardless of season. Every year, more than 1 500 visitors are admitted to the peninsula.
