ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

A small, free museum well worth a visit... Most of the finds here come from the Loizos and Pilikata caves excavated by the British Archaeological School in Athens. It contains a fine collection of vases and votive objects from the Mycenaean period. The most important showcases include bronze objects (^9th-8th c. BC), a ceramic plate (^7th c. BC) and, above all, fragments of a clay mask (^1st or ^2nd c.) inscribed with a prayer to Ulysses.
