16 km from Molyvos, the picturesque village of Sykaminea is charming because it is built on the slopes of the highest mountain in Lesbos, like a small haven of peace surrounded by olive trees. It is also the home of the writer Strátis Myrivílis (1890-1969), best known for his short stories and his novel The Blond Haired Teacher adapted for film by Dínos Dimópoulos.
